邻近黑洞双星 V404 Cygni 快速光学变化中的重复模式

黑洞如何吸积周围物质是天体物理学中一个基本但尚未解决的问题。通常认为物质通过吸积盘被吸入黑洞,而吸积盘的状态主要取决于质量吸积率。当吸积率接近临界速率(爱丁顿极限)时,内盘被认为会发生热不稳定性,导致在几分钟到几小时的时间尺度上出现大振幅 X 射线变化(振荡)的重复模式。事实上,这种振荡仅在具有高质量吸积率的源中被观测到,例如 GRS 1915+105。这些大振幅、相对慢时间尺度的现象,被认为具有与其他黑洞双星(例如 XTE J1118+480 和 GX 339-4)中经常观察到的小振幅和快(\lesssim10 秒)时间尺度的 X 射线或光学变化不同的物理起源。在此,我们报告了 V404 Cygni 的大量多色光学光度测量数据集,它是一个 X 射线暂现源,包含一个距离为 2.4 千秒差距、质量为九倍太阳质量的黑洞(以及一颗伴星)。我们的数据显示,在质量吸积率比先前认为的低十倍以上的情况下,仍可出现 100 秒至 2.5 小时时间尺度的光学振荡。这表明吸积率并不是诱发内盘不稳定性的关键参数。相反,我们提出长轨道周期是产生这些大振幅振荡的关键条件,因为在具有长轨道周期的双星中,大盘的外部表面密度将过低,无法维持向盘内部的持续质量吸积。持续吸积的缺乏——而非实际速率——将是导致长周期系统中出现大振幅振荡的关键因素。
