摘要
我们回顾了红超巨星（RSG）在恒星族群中发挥的重要作用，以及它们对理论恒星演化提出的一些挑战和问题。我们介绍了金属丰度和自转如何改变恒星进入或离开赫罗图红色部分的方式，以及红超巨星如何可能保留其主序演化的痕迹。我们将理论族群比率与观测值进行了比较。
