我们回顾了微引力透镜项目近期对理解脉动红巨星的影响。讨论了红巨星恒星的脉动特性（周期-光度关系、周期变化、模式切换）、红巨星支脉动、金属丰度效应以及利用红巨星变星探索银河系结构。
