手征微扰理论预测，当在下夸克质量固定时上下夸克质量差变得足够大时，QCD 中会出现违反 CP 的 Dashen 相。在到达该相之前，所有物理强子质量和散射振幅预计会随上夸克质量平滑变化，即使该质量穿过零点也是如此。在欧几里得空间中，规范场的拓扑 susceptibility 在正夸克质量处为正，但在趋近 Dashen 相时发散至负无穷。该 susceptibility 中的零点提供了上夸克质量消失点的初步信号。我讨论了此判定中潜在的模糊性。
