低温暗物质搜索(CDMS)对 WIMP-核子截面给出的初步限制

我们正在开展一项实验,利用地面探测器搜寻银河系晕中的 WIMP(弱相互作用大质量粒子)。这一类假想粒子,其性质类似于粒子物理标准模型扩展所预言的性质,可能构成非重子暗物质的冷组分。我们描述了我们的实验,该实验基于低温恒温器中屏蔽的低本底锗和硅探测器。探测器通过同时测量声子和电离中的能量,实现了高程度的本底排斥。利用实验初始运行中约一千千克·天的曝光量,我们获得了与其他实验长时间运行结果相当的(初步的)WIMP-核子截面上限。
