摘要
为生产高强度电子-和μ-中子及反中子束而建造神弧子工厂日益增长的兴趣, 1999年10月, 费米局局长办公室启动了两个六个月的研究。第一项研究由N. Holtkamp和D. Finley组织, 旨在探讨基于μ-存储环的高强度中子源的技术可行性。该设计研究产生了一份报告, 基本结论是神弧子工厂在技术上是可行的, 尽管需要一个激进的研发计划。第二项研究即本报告所述, 旨在作为函数来探讨神弧子工厂的物理潜能, 其中包括μ-束能量和强度, 以及对于振荡物理, 作为函数的基线潜能。
