摘要
天体物理学中基本科学问题的答案,从宇宙膨胀的历史到近邻恒星的尺寸,都取决于我们对各种天体进行精确测量的能力。随着我们对天体底层物理学的认识与探测器和仪器的进步同步提高,我们从测量中提取科学成果的能力极限,不再取决于我们对这些天体本质认识的缺乏,而是取决于所有问题中最平凡的一个:我们以物理单位校准观测的精度。我们强调需要实施一项计划,以改进并扩展现有的分光光度校准恒星网络,从而在紫外、可见和近红外波段提供精度等于或优于1%的精确校准,同时具备极佳的天空覆盖率和大的动态范围。
