嫦娥5号玄武岩揭示月球中期持久但微弱的磁场

摘要
月球磁场的演化可揭示月球的内部结构、热力学历史以及表面环境。然而,月球磁场的中后期演化缺乏充分的制约,因而月球持续存在的恒星 dynamo 的问题仍存争议。嫦娥5号任务返回的Oceanus Procellarum中处于中纬度位置的年轻玄武岩,使我们得以独家获取该地区的最年轻玄武岩样本。我们从嫦娥5号玄武岩碎片中恢复出20亿年前的2-4微特斯拉的微弱古磁强度,印证了月球恒星 dynamo 在月球中期至少可以持续存在的时间长度。这一古磁学结果表明,月球深层在中期阶段仍然存在热对流,这可能为年轻的玄武岩提供了mantle 热通量。
