PEARLS:在北赤道极时域场中发现银河系内部的点状特征

北赤道极时域场(TDF)的首次公开0.9--4.4μm NIRCam图像揭示了银河系核心显示出在长波滤波器中呈现点状特征的星系。我们肉眼识别出66个银河系(约每平方弧分钟1个),其核心呈点状,并利用GalFit对其二维光谱进行建模,鉴定出16个具有可测量点状成分的星系核。GalFit表明,肉眼样本包含紧凑恒星状天鼓和点状星系核的混合。该核心分类通过光谱能量分布(SED)建模得到补充,以推断样本中活跃星系核(AGN)和宿主星系参数。对于具有可测量点状成分的星系,其0.1--30.0μm总光通量中AGN贡献的中位数比例为0.44,且14/16个被颜色分类鉴定为AGN。我们得出结论,近红外点状星系核是AGN的特征。在此基础上,我们定义了自动化样本选择准则以识别这些点状特征。这些准则可用于其他现有及未来的NIRCam图像中,以简化搜索具有未分辨红外亮度星系核的银河系。詹姆斯·韦伯太空站在红外波段卓越的角分辨率和灵敏度正在复兴星系AGN的形态学识别。
