19颗近距离星系中星系团和联合体周围的PAH特征比值

摘要
我们比较了19颗近距离星系中观测到的多环芳烃(PAH)特征比值与近-中红外尘埃辐射的理论预期网格。PAH特征比值来源于Cycle 1 JWST观测,对我们从HST五带光度测量中获得可靠年龄和质量估计的7224个星系团和29176个星系联合体进行测量。虽然星系间存在差异,但观测到的PAH特征比值主要与理论模型吻合,尤其是偏向更高电离度和更大PAH尺寸分布的模型。在每个星系中,我们还提取了直径200 pc的圆形区域中PAH特征比值,这些区域作为非星系团/联合体控制样本。与星系团和联合体相比,来自 diffuse 星际介质的3.3μm/7.7μm和3.3μm/11.3μm比值小约0.10-0.15 dex。当将观测到的PAH特征比值与[OIII]/Hβ比值所探测的辐射场硬度进行比较时,我们发现 nearly all样本中的星系几乎都呈现反相关。这一结果表明,PAH特征比值由辐射场强度的形状所主导,最小PAH——通过JWST F335M成像观测——在辐射场最强且最硬的区域中正在被逐渐“加工”或破坏。
