M82 X-2中的轨道衰减

M82 X-2是首个被发现的脉动型超亮X射线源(PULX)。若辐射各向同性,这些极端脉冲星的亮度意味着极端的物质转移率。另一种假设是物质转移率低得多,但表观亮度因几何束流而增强。只有对物质转移率的独立测量才能帮助区分这两种情形。在本文中,我们追踪中子星轨道达七年,测得轨道衰减(),并论证该轨道衰减由超过Eddington光度所设物质转移极限150倍以上的极端物质转移驱动。若属实,吸积体可用的质量足以解释其亮度,无需束流。这也强烈支持吸积体为高磁化中子星的模型。
