全球21厘米实验中校准源的优化:REACH案例

宇宙黎明和再电离时期的21厘米自旋翻转信号是探测早期宇宙中第一发光天体形成条件的重要探针。然而,其探测仍然是一个重大挑战,因为其强度远低于明亮的前景,且需要精确校准仪器以防止可能阻碍探测或导致错误推断的系统误差。REACH(Radio Experiment for the Analysis of Cosmic Hydrogen)是一个旨在在50--130 MHz频率范围内探测该天空平均信号的辐射计实验。REACH采用宽波束天线,其校准依赖于内部参考源,覆盖广泛的温度和反射系数范围。所用校准源的类型和数量的选择显著影响校准质量。本工作研究了这些效应,并引入了一种选择最优校准源集合的新方法。通过优化集合,我们旨在减少校准时间,从而在保持校准精度的同时增加天空积分时间。我们探索了两种优化策略:一种应用于全接收机频段,另一种在频率逐点基础上进行。最后我们证明,在与常规全校准源集合相当的校准总时间下,使用更少校准源的优化集合可实现约15%的校准温度噪声降低和仪器绝对校准的改善。这对类似辐射计实验的校准策略具有启示意义。
