阿塔卡马沙漠上层地区的光学视界与红外大气透明度

摘要
为在阿塔卡马沙漠建造大型红外/光学望远镜，自 1998 年来开展了一项针对 Chajnantor Plateau 区域光学视界和红外大气透明度的地点调查计划。初步结果表明，Chajnantor 区域在光学和红外方面提供了出色的天文观测条件。该区域相对孤立但容易到达，附近提供高质量的服务。我们预计将发现: 中位数光学 FWHM 视界接近值 0.5"--0.6"，光学观测夜的百分比为 65% 或更好，天文上有用的夜晚超过 80%，且中位数 PWV 良好，低于 1 mm(最佳四分之一以下 0.5 mm)。
