对M矮星金属丰度的了解主要依赖于Bonfils及其合作者的测光校准，该校准预测太阳邻域内的M矮星，包括那些已知有行星的，系统性地比质量更大的恒星更贫金属。我们使用一个体积有限的低质量恒星样本，以及一部分具有高金属丰度F、G和K型宽双星伴星的M矮星来检验这一预测。我们发现Bonfils等人的测光校准系统性地低估了我们高金属丰度M矮星的金属丰度，平均低估0.32 dex。我们推导了一个新的测光金属丰度校准，并表明有行星的M矮星似乎系统性地富金属，这一结果与有行星的FGK矮星的金属丰度分布一致。
