高角分辨率天文学的进展使得通过角偏离效应探测黑洞暗物质成为可能。假设星系中的暗物质由太阳质量黑洞组成,则穿过星系的视线产生微角秒级偏离的概率不可忽略,该数值已在多个天文项目中被讨论。在宇宙学中,由于早期密度增大以及红移导致的角度展开,效应被放大。若暗物质由原初黑洞组成并存在于CMB时期,CMB光子的随机偏转会导致角分辨率极限约为 ,其中 为黑洞质量。利用在“声学峰”观测中已证实的 分辨率,可推出极限 。尽管这一大数值看似无趣,但分辨率的提升将带来显著限制,或有可能发现原初黑洞。
