利用 IceCube 观测宇宙射线月球阴影

我们报告了利用 IceCube 探测器观测到来自月球方向的宇宙射线显著缺失的现象。对这种“月球阴影”的研究用于表征探测器的角分辨率和绝对指向能力。该探测基于探测器完工前两个时期采集的数据:2008 年 4 月至 2009 年 5 月,当时 IceCube 处于部分配置运行状态,在南极冰层中部署了 40 根探测器弦;以及 2009 年 5 月至 2010 年 5 月,当时探测器以 59 根弦运行。使用两种独立的分析方法,在两种探测器配置中均以高显著性(> 6 sigma)观测到了月球阴影。考虑到地磁偏转效应,观测到的阴影中心位置与其预期位置偏差在 0.2 度以内。这一测量验证了 IceCube 的方向重建能力。
