新发现的超级新星残骸 G266.2-1.2 (RX J0852.0-4622) 沿视线指向 Vela SNR，采用 ASCa 观测 120 ks。我们发现其 X 射线光谱特征性, 由幂律描述, 将其纳入以非热 X 射线为主导的壳型超级新星残骸类别。虽然 Vela SNR 的存在妨碍了我们准确确定柱密度的能力, 但 GIS 数据似乎表明其吸收远高于 Vela 本身, 这表明 G266.2-1.2 可能距离更远。一个未分辨的中心源可能是相关中子星, 尽管对此解释仍存困难。
