热木星 WASP-43b 的夜侧云层与非平衡化学

摘要

热木星是研究得最透彻的系外行星之一,但它们的化学成分和云层性质如何随经度变化仍知之甚少。理论模型预测云层可能在夜侧凝结,且分子丰度可被纬向风驱离平衡状态。在此,我们报告了利用 JWST 的中红外仪器(MIRI)在 5-12 μ\mum 波段测得的热木星 WASP-43b 的相位分辨发射光谱。光谱揭示了巨大的昼夜温差(平均亮温度分别为 1524±\pm35 和 863±\pm23 开尔文),以及所有轨道相位下存在水吸收的证据。与三维大气模型的比较表明,相位曲线形状和发射光谱都强烈暗示了夜侧云层的存在,这些云层在气压大于约 100 mbar 时对热发射变得光学厚。昼侧与中红外光球层上方的无云大气相一致。与平衡化学的预期相反,但与非平衡动力学模型一致,夜侧未检测到甲烷(2σ\sigma 上限为 1-6 ppm,取决于模型假设)。
