NGC 6738：并非真正的星团

我们对该在业界鲜有人知的星团NGC 6738进行了光度、测距和光谱调查，以确定其真实性质。结果表明，NGC 6738绝非一个物理性的恒星集合：光度测量未显示出明确的平均序列，测距和径向速度随机分布，光谱-光度距离范围从10到1600 pc不等，且显著光度函数与周围场区域相同。因此，NGC 6738似乎是一个在不规则背景吸收上投射的几颗亮星的表面亮度浓度。
