Terzan 5是银晕中的一个类球状星团恒星系统，近期发现其拥有两种铁含量不同且可能年龄不同的星族（Ferraro等人，2009）。这一发现表明Terzan 5可能是构成银晕的原始积木块遗迹。本文基于高分辨率（ESO-MAD和HST ACS-WFC）与宽场（ESO-WFI）观测数据的结合，重新确定了Terzan 5的结构参数（重心、密度和表面亮度轮廓、总光度和质量）。我们发现Terzan 5的聚集程度显著低于先前认知，而质量则更大。尽管如此，它仍拥有银河系中所有恒星聚集体中最高的碰撞率。我们讨论了这些发现对该恒星系统所拥有的异常毫秒脉冲星种群的影响。
