系外行星没有名称，仅通过其指定的科学编号来指代。国际天文学联合会（IAU）不给行星命名的理由是，由于行星预计很常见，因此命名被认为不切实际。我提出了一些理由说明这一逻辑存在缺陷，并为截至2009年10月已知的403颗系外行星候选体建议了名称。这些名称遵循与主星所属星座关联的方案，因此主要源自罗马-希腊神话。在建立适当关联的前提下，也可以使用其他神话体系。
