对双中子星合并的多信使观测

摘要

2017年8月17日,Advanced LIGO 与 Advanced Virgo 探测器通过引力波观测到一个双中子星合并候选体(后命名为 GW170817),合并时间为 UTC 12:41:04。Fermi 伽马射线暴监测器独立探测到一个伽马射线暴(GRB 170817A),相对于合并时间延迟约 1.7 秒。根据引力波信号,该源最初被定位在 31 平方度的天区内,光度距离为 408+840^{+8}_{-8} Mpc,组件质量与中子星一致。随后组件质量被测定在 0.86 至 2.26 MM_\odot 范围内。跨电磁波段开展的大规模观测活动促成了在合并后不到 11 小时,由 One-Meter, Two Hemisphere (1M2H) 团队使用 1 米 Swope 望远镜在 NGC 4993(约 40 Mpc 处)发现了一个明亮的光学暂现源(SSS17a,现 IAU 编号为 AT 2017gfo)。该光学暂现源在一小时内被多个团队独立探测到。随后的观测针对该天体及其环境展开。早期紫外观测揭示了一个在 48 小时内消退的蓝色暂现源。光学与红外观测显示了约 10 天内的红化演化。在早期未探测到之后,分别在合并后约 9 天与约 16 天于暂现源位置发现了 X 射线与射电辐射。X 射线与射电辐射可能源于与产生紫外/光学/近红外辐射不同的物理过程。在后续搜寻中,未发现与该源一致的超高能伽马射线与中微子候选体。(节选)
