当前数据广泛支持最先进的ΛCDM宇宙学模拟所预测的星系表面亮度轮廓幅度与形状随总恒星质量的变化趋势，尽管最近的结果显示出一些有趣的偏差迹象，特别是对于质量小于银河系的星系。在此，我讨论或许如何能从给定模型与观测到的当前星系恒星质量函数的吻合程度中，几乎直接推断出造成此类偏差的最大贡献来源。
