最近，自转混合的概念受到了一些作者的质疑（例如 Hunter et al. 2008）。我们表明，过量 N/H 是一个多元函数 f(M, age, v, sin i, multiplicity, Z)。要找到多元函数与某个参数的相关性，显然需要尽可能限制其他涉及参数的范围。当这样做时，自转混合的概念得到了观测的支持。我们还表明，样本数据并非没有多种偏差。由于双星演化，大约 20% 的恒星可能偏离该关系。
