摘要
试图估算宇宙中“金属元素”的总体丰度，以及其生产所释放能量对整个外银河背景光（EBL）总强度所作出的贡献。以白矮星为主要来源，加上来自类鳄栉星（AGN）的贡献（虽可能相对较小），便足以较轻松地解释现有EBL强度估计范围下端（50至60 nW·m^{-2}·sr^{-1}），但若某些更高的估计（90至100 nW·m^{-2}·sr^{-1}）被证实为准，则似乎更难实现。
