利用 IceCube LED 校准系统测量南极冰层透明度

摘要

IceCube 中微子天文台体积约为 1 km^3,目前已完成建设,86 根弦已部署在南极冰层中。IceCube 探测带电粒子穿过或在冰中产生时发出的切伦科夫辐射。为充分发挥探测器的潜力,必须充分理解探测器内部及周围冰层中的光传播特性。本报告提出了一种新方法,将冰层中的光传播模型拟合至 IceCube 采集的就位光源事件数据集。本文给出了由此导出的一组参数,即散射系数和吸收系数随深度的测量值,并展示了基于新模型的 IceCube 数据与模拟结果的比较。
