大质量星型超新星作为主要尘埃生产者

摘要

我们报告了对类型II超新星2003gd(位于NGC 628中)的后期光学和中红外观测。在爆发发生499-678天后观察到中红外超额,表明着冷却尘埃在 ejecta 中形成;同时伴随光学消光度的增加和发射线轮廓的不对称性增大。辐射传递模型显示,最多可在ejecta中形成0.02太阳质量的尘埃, beginning as early as 250 days after outburst. 这些观测表明,超新星ejecta中的尘埃形成可以是高效的,大质量星型超新星可以是宇宙历史时期的主要尘埃生产者。
