MAGIC 极大天顶角对蟹状星云高达 100 TeV 的观测

摘要

目的:我们旨在测量蟹状星云在约 100 TeV 能量域的伽马射线能谱分布,并检验现有轻子发射模型在这些高能下的有效性。方法:我们使用 MAGIC 望远镜系统的新型极大天顶角观测来增加 10 TeV 以上的收集面积。我们还开发了一种监测大气透射率的辅助程序,以确保累积数据的正确校准。这采用记录源位置旁边恒星场的光学图像,为透射率测量提供优于 10% 的精度。结果:我们证明 MAGIC 极大天顶角观测产生的收集面积大于一平方公里。在仅约 56 小时观测中,我们探测到蟹状星云高达 100 TeV 的伽马射线发射,从而提供了迄今成像大气切伦科夫望远镜对该源的最高能量测量。将累积和档案的 MAGIC 与 Fermi/LAT 数据与一些现有发射模型比较,我们发现它们均不能准确描述 1 GeV 到 100 TeV 的伽马射线信号。
