M31分子臂在所有尺度上直至10秒差距以下的结构

摘要
我展示了一套用于研究星系中分子气体的独特数据集:对M31中CO的完整高分辨率巡天以及额外的局部研究。全采样巡天的角分辨率为23角秒(半高全宽),干涉测量数据以亚角秒分辨率达到秒差距尺度。现在首次可以同时研究大尺度和小尺度结构。因此,我们能够推导出整体结构,并研究从全局到单个云复合体和恒星形成区域的联系。
