用于稀有事件探测的低扩散 Xe-He 气体混合物:电致发光产额

摘要

基于次级闪烁(电致发光)信号放大的高压氙气时间投影室(TPC)正被提出用于稀有事件探测,如方向性暗物质、双电子俘获和双贝塔衰变探测。相较于单液相或双相 TPC,此类 TPC 通过原电离径迹的拓扑特征来甄别稀有事件是一项主要优势,其主要限制在于纯氙中的高电子扩散。氦气与氙气的混合可显著减少电子扩散,从而提高这些光学 TPC 的甄别效率。我们测量了 Xe-He 混合物在 0 至 30% He 范围内的电致发光(EL)产额,并证明添加氦气对纯氙 EL 产额影响很小。在闪烁区典型的 2.5 kV/cm/bar 约化电场下,对于 10%、15%、20% 和 30% 的氦浓度,EL 产额分别降低约 2%、3%、6% 和 10%。该下降幅度小于文献中最新模拟框架所得结果。在实验不确定度范围内,添加氦气对 EL 统计涨落的影响可忽略不计。本结果可作为未来基于 Xe-He 混合物的光学 TPC 所应用模拟工具的重要基准。
