Lambda Orionis 星形成区以 O8 III 星 lambda^1 Ori 为主导。该区域包含若干结构，包括直径约为九度的 CO 云和尘埃环、S264 HII 区、大量 IRAS 来源、Barnard 30 和 35 暗云，以及与中央恒星相关的星团——Lambda Ori 星团（Collinder 69）。我们推导了该星团（约 5 百万年年龄）的初始质量函数，覆盖质量范围从 50 至 0.02 太阳质量多个数量级。
