三颗 DA 类白矮星中的千高斯磁场

摘要
我们通过使用配备 FORS1 的VLT Antu 8 米望远镜进行光学光谱极化观测，检测到三颗正常 DA 类白矮星（WD0446-790、WD1105-048、WD2359-434）中存在 2-4 kG 的纵向磁场。除 40 Eri B（4 kG）外，这些是首次在 30 kG 以下的白矮星中发现正的磁场。检测率为 25%（3/12）可能首次表明相当比例的白矮星具有弱磁场。若未来观测证实这一结果，将成为我们理解恒星磁场演化的基石。
