我们展示了从I Zw 18这颗伽马-瑞特星系获取的紫外图像和光谱，采用Space Telescope Imaging Spectrograph。这些数据的高空间分辨率使我们能够孤立包含WC亚型伽马-瑞特星的星系。我们的远紫外光谱清晰显示出CIV 1548,1551和HeII 1640发射，表明WC星系位于两个星系中：一个位于I Zw 18的明亮(NW)半区域，另一个位于该区域的外缘。后者光谱较为异常，因为仅在发射中看到CIV，表明该光谱由WC星系主导。这些数据还表明，I Zw 18的HI柱密度在较暗(SE)半区域显著峰值，柱深远大于先前分析中报告的值。
