摘要
本报告阐述了 IRIDE 的科学目标、潜力及其初步技术设计;IRIDE 是一种用于科学、技术和工业广泛应用领域跨学科研究的创新工具。IRIDE 将是一个高强度的“粒子工厂”,基于高占空比射频超导电子直线加速器与高能激光器的组合。IRIDE 旨在为粒子物理、凝聚态物理、化学与材料科学、结构生物学及工业应用提供独特的研究可能性,它将开辟全新的研究途径并推进我们在众多科学技术分支中的知识。IRIDE 将有助于开启新的发现之路并解决最重要的谜题:物质由什么构成?在生命过程中起基本作用的蛋白质结构是什么?我们能从蛋白质结构中学到什么以改善疾病治疗并设计更高效的药物?此外,电子芯片在辐射效应下如何表现?如何优化大型热交换器中的热流?IRIDE 的科学潜力深远,证明了在意大利与国家研究机构和公司协同、并在欧洲及国际研究框架内建设如此大型设施的合理性。它还将影响 ILC 和 FEL 的研发工作,并与其他大型加速器项目形成互补。IRIDE 还计划根据确定的优先级分阶段实施。
