IRAS 0421+0400:喷流穿越ISM/IGM界面?

活跃星系IRAS 0421+0400的发射线在射电热点位置(位于延伸射电叶端的起始处)显示出约900 km/s的速度展宽。我们研究了一个模型,解释这种现象:喷流穿越星际介质(ISM)与星际介质(IGM)边界。此情景此前被建议用于解释宽角尾(WAT)射电源。基于我们的模型,我们模拟了这些区域的长孔径光谱,并将结果与观测比较,发现能够解释大部分观测长孔径光谱的细节。
