探究 55 Cnc e 的可见光相位曲线变率

55 Cnc e 是一颗超短周期超级地球,绕一颗类太阳恒星凌星。先前的光学波段观测探测到一种与行星轨道周期相位同步的时变流量调制,其振幅过大,无法仅用反射光和热辐射解释。本研究旨在探究 55 Cnc e 中该变率的起源及相位曲线调制的时间尺度。为此,我们使用了 CHaracterising ExOPlanet Satellite (CHEOPS),其卓越的光度精度为刻画相位曲线在相邻轨道间的微小变化提供了契机。CHEOPS 在 2020 年 3 月至 2022 年 2 月间对 55 Cnc e 进行了 29 次独立观测访问。基于这些观测,我们研究了可能产生所观测调制的不同过程。特别地,我们构建了一个玩具模型,以评估由辐射压和引力驱动的星周尘埃环是否可能匹配所观测的流量变率时间尺度。我们发现 55 Cnc e 的相位曲线振幅与峰值偏移在不同访问间确有变化。所选尘埃物种的升华时间尺度表明,类地地幔中预期的硅酸盐存活时间不足以解释所观测的相位曲线调制。我们发现碳化硅、石英和石墨是星周尘埃环成分的合理候选,因为它们的升华时间尺度较长。广泛的 CHEOPS 观测确认了相位曲线振幅与偏移随时间变化。我们发现尘埃可提供匹配观测所需的灰 opacity 源。然而,现有数据并未提供证据表明具有可变单位面积颗粒质量的星周物质导致了所观测的变率。未来借助 James Webb Space Telescope 的观测有望为这颗标志性超级地球带来令人振奋的见解。
