云计算正在引发计算环境的革命，将传统的软件安装和许可问题转变为通过互联网提供的完整的按需服务。Microsoft office 365 是一款基于云的办公应用程序，可在线供客户使用，因此无需购买和安装该软件。在社交网站 Facebook 上，用户上传视频时使用了云提供商的存储服务，从而降低了客户端的硬件成本。虚拟化技术在云计算的出现中发挥了巨大作用。本文描述了使用开源操作系统 Ubuntu 10.04 服务器版实现私有云，安装带有 Eucalyptus 1.6.2 的 Ubuntu Enterprise Cloud，并通过云提供 CentOS 5.3 操作系统。
