HUT对AGN Lyman极限观测:对统一模型的意义

摘要

我们利用霍普金斯紫外望远镜(HUT)对13颗低红移类鲱鱼核进行观测,来自Astro-1和Astro-2任务。其中4颗显示本征Lyman极限吸收——NGC 1068、NGC 4151、NGC 3516和NGC 3227。所有具有光学厚Lyman极限的星系都拥有延伸的窄线区且呈双極形态。所有无吸收现象的类鲱鱼核都是Seyfert 1型且窄线区compact。这些观测支持几何阴影作为统一类鲱鱼核模型中对辐射进行集束的主要机制,最可能是光离化大气层位于遮掩环之上。
