HST 对 PSR B0540-69 系统的多历元成像揭示高度动态的同步辐射星云

PSR B0540-69 是位于大麦哲伦云中的蟹状星云脉冲星孪生体。这两颗脉冲星的年龄、能量及整体行为非常相似。其脉冲星风星云 (PWNe) 的总体外观也是如此。对跨度 10 年的哈勃空间望远镜图像的分析揭示了 PSR B0540-69 周围 PWNe 的显著变化，其中一个热点以约 0.04c 的速度移动。这种行为让人联想到沿蟹状星云反喷流方向观测到的变化，可能暗示了该系统几何结构的另一种情景。利用相同的数据评估了脉冲星的自行。10 年间记录到的零位移使我们能够将脉冲星速度的 3 上限设定为 290 km/s。
