摘要
我们使用哈勃空间望远镜的行星相机获取了制动脉冲星双星系统 PSR B1957+20 的图像。该仪器的高空间分辨率使我们能够将脉冲星系统与一颗靠近的背景星分离开来，这颗背景星在该系统接近光学最低点时曾干扰了地面观测。我们的图像将背面伴星的温度限制在 ~K 大约是面对脉冲星那侧温度的一半，同时在光学最低点时提供了对伴星的边缘检测。该检测的亮度与前期工作相符，后者表明伴星几乎填满其罗德瓶，并通过潮汐耗散得到支撑。
