HI速度场与暗物质星系的形状

摘要

presented a new method for measuring gas盘velocity field偏离轴对称的程度。该方法是Franx, van Gorkom和de Zeeuw针对单个轨道气环所开发方法的扩展。该测量基于对完整velocity field的高阶谐波展开。利用摆动论计算势能扰动对这些谐波项的影响。我们证明s_1和s_3谐波可用于测量ϵRsin(2ϕobs)\epsilon_R \sin(2 \phi_{obs}),其中ϵR\epsilon_R为势能的拉伸率,ϕobs\phi_{obs}为未知的观察角度。作为演示,我将该方法应用于两种螺旋星系的HI velocity field:NGC 2403和NGC 3198。
