研究表明，涡旋的电荷可能导致层状超导体（特别是基于铋的铜氧化物或有机超导体）中直涡旋线的螺旋不稳定性。这种不稳定性可能导致相变，形成均匀扭曲的涡旋态，这可以通过扭矩磁强计、中子衍射、电磁或量热测量来检测。
