非零中微子质量的发现指向了多个标准模型中性费米子存在的可能性。当此类粒子足够重而无法通过振荡产生时，它们被称为重中性轻子(HNL)。在最小模型中，HNL的产生和衰变由标准模型相互作用以及HNL与活性中微子之间的混合所控制，若质量在MeV-GeV范围内，通常会导致相对较长的寿命。我们研究了利用NuMI束流在ICARUS型探测器中进行专用HNL搜索的物理意义和技术可行性。我们的分析明确表明，对于ICARUS型探测器配合NuMI束流，HNL混合度随质量变化的约束条件与当前实验获得的限制相比具有很强的竞争力。
