红移z~8.1处的GRB 090423

摘要

伽马射线暴(GRB)由罕见类型的大质量恒星爆炸产生。其快速衰减的余辉在光学波段通常足够明亮,以至于可以在宇宙学距离上被探测到。此前,已知GRB的最高红移是z=6.7(GRB 080913),星系最高红移是z=6.96。在此我们报告对GRB 090423的观测及其红移z=8.1^{+0.1}_{-0.3}的近红外光谱测量结果。该暴发生在宇宙年龄仅为当前年龄约4%的时候。其性质与在低/中等红移处观测到的GRB相似,表明在大爆炸后约6亿年产生该暴的机制和前身星与大约100亿年后产生GRB的机制和前身星没有显著差异。
