红移6.7的GRB 080913

摘要
我们报告了Swift对GRB 080913的探测,以及随后GROND进行的光学/近红外后续观测,这些观测发现了其光学/NIR余辉,并通过检测i'和z'波段之间的光谱断裂确认了其高红移性质。在ESO-VLT上获得的光谱显示,连续谱延伸至lambda = 9400 A,而在7500 A < lambda < 9400 A范围内通量为零,我们将其解释为在z=6.695+-0.025(95.5%置信水平)处开始的Gunn-Peterson吸收槽,这使得GRB 080913成为迄今为止红移最高的GRB,并且比红移最高的类星体更遥远。我们注意到,许多基于即时可用的爆发或余辉性质的红移指示器对GRB 080913均失效。我们报告了我们的后续观测活动,并将GRB 080913的性质与较低红移的爆发进行了比较。特别是,由于该爆发的余辉比典型GRB更暗,我们表明2米级望远镜可以识别大多数高红移GRB。
