我回顾了关于早型星系中球状星团系统的近期及较早的研究工作。解释它们的性质及可能的组装情景，涉及了从星团形成本身到星系形成与演化，乃至观测技术细节等多种天体物理主题。星系团中心星系那壮观的星团系统，其丰富性可能归功于大量较不壮观的星系及其恒星形成过程。矮星系似乎在其中扮演着尤为重要的角色。
