伽马射线与引力波

摘要

首次中子星并合的多信使观测由 Fermi-GBM 与 INTEGRAL SPI-ACS 在伽马射线波段、以及 Advanced LIGO 与 Advanced Virgo 在引力波波段独立探测到。引力波由具有加速四极矩的系统发射,可探测源预期为致密天体。几乎所有遥远的 astrophysical 伽马射线源都是致密天体。因此,这两种信使的偶发观测将持续揭示引力波与伽马射线的源,并促成跨越 Astro2020 主题领域的多信使科学。这需要对地基引力波网络进行升级,以及需要约 keV–MeV 伽马射线覆盖以观测中子星并合,并需要引力波与伽马射线的宽带覆盖以监测其他预期的联合源。
