在对UV最亮类I AGN的调查中使用远紫外光谱仪(FUSE)，我们常常发现O VI 1032,1038共振双线相关吸收。迄今为止对34个z<0.15的I类AGN观测，16个显示可检测到的O VI吸收。大多数吸收系统显示多个分量，其本征宽度约为100 km/s，覆盖蓝移速度范围小于1000 km/s。除三颗星系(Ton S180, Mrk 478, 和 Mrk 279)外，我们样本中已有X射线或更长波长UV观测的星系也显示C IV吸收并显示软X射线暖吸收体的证据。在某些情况下，UV吸收分量的物理性质类似于X射线吸收气体，但在另一些情况下，UV与X射线吸收分量之间不存在明确的物理对应关系。
