RHIC的前向粒子产生和关联测量可以探测低x胶子。STAR在中心d+Au碰撞中观测到的背对背前向π^0+前向π^0关联的抑制与色玻璃凝聚(CGC)计算的预测一致,表明在如此低x下探测的金核处于致密胶子态。研究了STAR在200 GeV p+p和d+Au碰撞中的前向π^0+近前向喷注状团簇方位角关联,这些关联对前向+中快度关联与前向+前向关联之间的中间x区域敏感。与STAR的其他探测不同x区域的测量一起,前向+近前向双强子关联可以提供信息,以理解从稀薄部分子气体到致密胶子态的转变有多尖锐。
