PROSPECT 在 HFIR 上的首次短基线中微子振荡搜寻

摘要

本快报报道了在高通量同位素反应堆观测 235^{235}U 裂变产物所发射反中微子的首批科学结果。PROSPECT(精密反应堆振荡与能谱实验)由一个分段的 4 吨 6^6Li 掺杂液体闪烁体探测器组成,覆盖距反应堆 7-9 m 的基线范围,并在小于 1 米水当量覆岩下运行。在标称功率 85 MW 的反应堆运行 33 个存活日收集的数据 yielding 25461 ±\pm 283(统计)例逆 beta 衰变探测。在地面反应堆开机数据采集两小时内,PROSPECT 可以 5σ\sigma 统计显著性实现反应堆反中微子观测。对逆 beta 衰变 prompt 能谱随基线的反应堆模型无关分析,在 95% 置信水平约束了先前允许的无菌中微子振荡参数空间的显著部分,并以 2.2σ\sigma 置信水平排斥反应堆反中微子异常的最佳拟合。
